Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Nick Foles, who has been all but invisible since breaking his collarbone back in early November, has made it clear that he wants to be the starter in Philadelphia.
As the Eagles were packing up their belongings to head into the offseason, Foles had this to say (via Philly.com).
I expect to be back here. I expect to be the quarterback. I love my teammates and I expect to be back out there, leading them and winning some games . . . I’m excited to come back better than I ever have been.
The Eagles lost only two games with Foles under center and fell completely off the map after he went down with injury in Week 9. However, Foles did turn the ball over 13 times in seven-plus games.
Mark Sanchez was playing on a one-year deal, and didn’t exactly prove he is the answer for the Eagles either. After taking over for Foles in Week 9, Sanchez and the Eagles lost four games.
However, if the Eagles decide to part ways with Sanchez, it would not be surprising to see the team target a rookie quarterback in the 2015 draft since the likelihood of obtaining a franchise quarterback during the free agency period is minimal.
Needless to say, this will be a rather interesting offseason for Chip Kelly’s squad.
