Central Michigan University announced Thursday that football coach John Bonamego has cancer in his left tonsil.
Per the release, Bonamego said:
“This morning I met with our student-athletes and coaches to let them know I have been diagnosed with cancer in my left tonsil. As I told our team, I WILL beat this. It was discovered early and is very treatable.”
Bonamego shared a similar statement on Twitter, noting that he plans on coaching the Chippewas’ season-opener on Thursday, Sep. 3, when Oklahoma State travels to Mount Pleasant.
