NFL DraftKings Week 14 picks: Top value plays and most overrated, including Gardner Minshew

NFL Week 14 is already here and it’s time to get those DraftKings lineups in place. So, let’s take a look at some NFL DraftKings value plays, as well as some overrated picks that are not worth your time this week.

For starters, there is a red-hot AFC South quarterback who has been an amazing DraftKings value and has one of the best matchups in Week 14. In addition to this, there is a veteran fantasy wide receiver who appears to be matchup proof who you do not want to be playing against this week.

From these value picks to an overrated fantasy quarterback who has been sputtering to stud WR making his way back to the field, you might be surprised about our best DraftKings Week 14 picks and some players slated to come up short.

DraftKings Week 14 picks: Quarterbacks

NFL: Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears, $6,800

Fading the first five higher-priced DraftKings quarterbacks and starting Fields in your DFS lineup in Week 14 should pay off. At this salary, Fields is a value play hosting the Detroit Lions. Three games ago, Fields had Detroit’s number and scored 24.2 DraftKings fantasy points against the Lions. This included 104 yards in rushing.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions, $6,400

In this same clash, Goff is an affordable DraftKings play at Chicago. Goff has been on a roll, slinging TDs, and the Bears have given up 23 passing touchdowns — the third-most in the league. Goff’s Week 14 salary is $1,900 less than the top QB option.

Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts, $5,400

At this price, Gardner Minshew is a major value play in DraftKings in Week 14. He’s coming from phenomenal performance and is primed to cash in at Cincinnati. The Bengals have yielded the eighth-most QB fantasy points and just allowed Trevor Lawrence to combine for 266 yards and three TDs (before his injury).

DraftKings Week 14 picks: Running Backs

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints, $8,200

Kamara is on a hot streak, and the money should flow again when the Saints host Carolina in Week 14. Priced $1,000 less than Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara is a DraftKings value play who should roll a Panthers’ defense that has given up 20 RB touchdowns — the most in the league.

Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers, $7,500

Those who want to ride or die with Ekeler in Week 14 might finally reap some reward when the Broncos come to town. The Broncos have allowed the most DraftKings fantasy points (30.4) to opposing running backs, making Ekeler an appealing, yet faded DFS play. Can he finally break out?

David Montgomery, Detroit Lions, $6,400

As a fantasy RB who has scored in all but one game this season Montgomery is a value start in DFS lineups for Week 14. Monty last gashed his former team’s defense for 98 yards and a touchdown and he will be looking to do more of the same in Round 2.

Alexander Mattison, Minnesota Vikings, $5,500

A cheaper option and value play is Mattison at Las Vegas. Coming from a bye, Mattison will face a Raiders defense that is surrendering 25.6 DraftKings running back points per game as well as 140.6 yards. That’s the sixth-most in the league.

Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans, $5,000

Those wanting even more value in DraftKings might start Pierce playing the Jets. Pierce took on a bigger role last week, and if that trend continues, he’s faced with a soft fantasy matchup with the Jets allowing 146.5 total RB yards per game.

DraftKings Week 14 picks: Wide Receivers

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Indianapolis Colts

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $7,700

Priced fifth-highest on the WR slate, Evans offers tons of value in DraftKings in Week 14. Even facing a stiffer Falcons pass defense, Evans should reward. Targeted 43 times over his last four games, resulting in 418 yards and five TDs, Evans has been utterly torching opposing defenses.

Michael Pittman, Indianapolis Colts, $7,300

At this salary, start Pittman in Week 14 DraftKings lineups and don’t look back. Pittman has been targeted 29 times over his last two games and he and Gardner Minshew should continue to slay. With the Bengals giving up 35 DraftKings points to opposing WRs each game, Pittman is going to have another big fantasy day.

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers, $6,800

Samuel has been smoking hot and he gets to play at home against the Seahawks, priming him for a great Week 14 start in DraftKings lineups. Two weeks ago, against Seattle, Samuel recorded a total of 94 yards and scored a rushing TD. More of the same should come facing a defense that has yielded the eighth-most WR fantasy points.

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos, $6,100

Sutton gets a nice matchup against the LA Chargers, making him a DFS value play at this salary. The Chargers have given up a whopping 40.3 DraftKings fantasy points per game to their opposing wideouts. Look for Russell Wilson to keep his favorite target plenty busy again.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks, $4,100

With San Francisco’s defense focusing on D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, start Smith-Njigba on the cheap in DraftKings. If this game gets out of hand, Smith-Njigba will rack up garbage time fantasy points. The 49ers overall are on a tear!

Jonathan Mingo, Carolina Panthers, $3,500

Even cheaper, Mingo is a Week 14 sleeper DraftKings value play. Mingo’s targets have been on the rise and he just had his best fantasy score to date. The Panthers should have to throw plenty to keep up on the road facing the Saints.

DraftKings Week 14 picks: Tight Ends

NFL: Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints

Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions, $6,100

With 17 targets, 187 yards, and two TDs in his last two games, LaPorta is a must-start in Week 14 DFS slates. Priced $1,700 less than Travis Kelce who has not been as productive, LaPorta offers tons more value. His opponent will be the Bears, who rank 18th-worst against opposing tight ends.

Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars, $4,800

Even against Cleveland’s obnoxious pass defense, Engram is a value play in DraftKings at this cheap salary. Engram was used more as a receiver and with Christian Kirk out after one play last week, Engram cashed and scored 23.2 DraftKings points. This should be the script for Week 14 too.

Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers, $3,400

Saving tons of DraftKings Week 14 salary, Everett makes for a sweet value play. He has caught eight of his last nine targets over his past two games for 87 yards and a TD. Yet, he remains priced practically free as a DFS tight end.

DraftKings overrated plays Week 14

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers

Quarterbacks:

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs, $7,900

Let’s face the fantasy elephant in the room. Patrick Mahomes is overrated for his lofty Week 14 DraftKings salary. The Chiefs host the Bills when Mahomes is hard to trust as a top fantasy QB who hasn’t thrown for over 300 yards since Week 7. And in the same stretch, he’s passed for only seven TDs vs four INTs. No thanks.

Running Backs:

Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Vegas Raiders, $6,900

Hot with some mixes of cold, Jacobs is overpriced in DraftKings in Week 14, hosting the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings defense ranks fourth-best against fantasy running backs, and it has allowed just five total RB touchdowns over 12 games. There are better options.

Wide Receivers:

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings, $8,500

Speaking of the Vikings, Justin Jefferson will make his return but is perhaps overrated as the third-highest-priced DraftKings WR in Week 14. Josh Dobbs has cooled down some and Jefferson is returning from an injury. The Raiders rank 21st in fantasy points given up to fantasy WRs.

Tight Ends:

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers, $5,900

Not priced too badly in DraftKings for Week 14, but faced with a tough matchup, Kittle could disappoint playing the Seahawks. It was just two games ago that Kittle scored only 4.9 points in DraftKings facing Seattle. To date, the Seahawks have allowed only two TE scores. That’s where Kittle brings home the money.
