The Houston Texans have become the most active team on the NFL transaction wire in 2021, but a Deshaun Watson trade may not be the only move the organization makes by the Nov. 2 deadline.

Houston, in the first year of its rebuild, signed a number of NFL veterans this offseason to fill out its roster. Sitting at 1-5, with the front office focused on building draft capital, many of those same players could be dealt within the next few weeks,

Watson is at the center of trade rumors, with the Miami Dolphins the lone team willing to acquire the quarterback as he faces 22 allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct. But Houston is also fielding calls about players on both sides of the ball.

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported Sunday, the Texans are seeking as many affordable, future pieces as they can acquire. Whether that’s draft picks or players early into their rookie contracts, general manager Nick Caserio wants to fill out his roster with young talent.

Multiple general managers believed left tackle Laremy Tunsil would have been moved by the NFL trade deadline, but he is on injured reserve after thumb surgery. If quarterback Tyrod Taylor is cleared to play before November, he could draw interest from multiple teams.

There are plenty of other names to keep an eye on. Running backs Mark Ingram and Phillip Lindsay could attract calls from NFL clubs thin at the position. Meanwhile, wide receiver Brandin Cooks would be very coveted by playoff contenders if the Texans make him available.

On the defensive side, Houston has plenty to offer. Linebacker Christian Kirksey is signed to a one-year contract and could attract interest from teams who need a linebacker on third downs. Other players on one-year deals, like cornerback Desmond King, might also receive inquiries.

The focus of the NFL trade deadline will be on Watson, but it’s evident the Texans will be extremely active in the next few weeks.
