The PGA Tour season is nearly a quarter complete, with six months remaining. Players have been strategically positioning themselves for the FedEx Cup Playoffs on some of the tour’s most challenging courses. Here are the 10 of the best PGA Tour golf courses on this year’s schedule.
Just Missed the Cut: PGA National, Kapalua, TPC Scottsdale, Pete Dye Stadium Course
Honorable Mention: Riviera Country Club

A historic venue preparing to host the 2028 Olympic men’s golf tournament, Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades narrowly escaped disaster when the Palisades Fire struck in January. Although the fire did not directly impact the course, it affected the local community and forced the cancellation of the Genesis Invitational. It remains one of eight Signature Event locations on the PGA Tour.

10. Harbour Town Golf Links

The Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, gives players momentum for the rest of the season. The RBC Heritage tests a player’s game, both mentally and physically, one week after the Masters. As a designated Signature Event, it challenges the best players in the world, making it one of the premier PGA Tour golf courses.
9. East Lake Golf Club

At the beginning of the season, every PGA Tour player envisions playing at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. That signifies the success a player has had all season, reflected by the FedEx Cup standings. Only 30 players get the chance to play East Lake at the end of the season, making the path much more difficult.

8. Colonial Country Club

Colonial Country Club has been a PGA Tour venue for nearly as long as Augusta National and before World War II. The Texas players on the PGA Tour, most notably a couple of University of Texas Longhorns alumni Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, love playing there. This is a course where history and location come together in one of the PGA Tour’s best courses.
7. TPC Craig Ranch

TPC Craig Ranch is home to one of three tournaments named after PGA Tour legend Byron Nelson, who won five major championships among his 52 professional victories. He also won 18 tournaments in 1945 alone, including 11 straight — feats that will likely never be matched. Now called the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, this tournament continues to honor one of the game’s greatest players.
6. Muirfield Village

A generational talent hosts The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. This one belongs to 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus. Nicklaus, who has won the most majors of all time, won at Muirfield Village twice on the PGA Tour in 1977 and 1984. Located 20 miles northwest of Columbus, Ohio in Dublin, it is a premier event on the PGA Tour.

5. Bay Hill Club & Lodge

There is a reason why golf courses are named after or are hosted by the game’s best players of all time. Seven-time major champion Arnold Palmer is certainly in that mix with the Arnold Palmer Invitational that takes place at Bay Hill. Tiger Woods, who is the host of The Genesis Invitational, won at Bay Hill eight times during his career. It is a place where the best players on the planet win, including Scheffler winning twice in a three-year span.
4. Torrey Pines Golf Club (South Course)

In 2025, Torrey Pines Golf Club had the opportunity to host two PGA Tour events this season. It hosted its own event, the Farmers Insurance Open. It also stepped in to host The Genesis Invitational due to wildfires impacting Los Angeles, including Pacific Palisades. The South Course at Torrey Pines is the longest on the PGA Tour.

3. Quail Hollow Golf Club

In past years, Quail Hollow was home to the Wells Fargo Championship. However, this year is different because Quail Hollow is preparing to host the 2025 PGA Championship, the second major tournament of the year. In 2024, Rory McIlroy came back from five strokes down to beat Xander Schauffele at Quail Hollow. That victory came one week before Schauffele went on to win the PGA Championship at Valhalla.

2. TPC Sawgrass

The pinnacle event of the PGA Tour, not including the major championships, is The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Whether it’s the final stretch, highlighted by the island green on the 17th hole, the challenge is present every year. That is why Scheffler became the first player in the 50-year history of The Players Championship to defend his title in 2024. It is sometimes called the “Fifth Major” because of its challenge.
1. Pebble Beach Golf Links

Pebble Beach Golf Links has its stamp as one of the best PGA Tour courses that spans more than a century. Although Pebble Beach hosted its first U.S. Open in 1972, the course has welcomed generational players, including seven-time major champion Bobby Jones in 1929. Like Torrey Pines, Pebble Beach is situated along the Pacific Ocean, challenging players especially when the wind comes into play.
