Allen Robinson has proven himself as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers, despite putting up with years of poor quarterback play. On the verge of hitting the open market, Robinson could be looking for greater opportunities in 2021 and beyond.
A perennial 1,000-yard receiver, Robinson is headed for free agency at the right time in his NFL career. He already cashed in once with Chicago, signing a three-deal worth $42 million in 2018. Set to turn 28 in August, this spring will provide him with another opportunity to land a life-changing contract.

While there’s a strong chance the Bears place him with the franchise tag before the deadline, it doesn’t rule out this talented wide receiver playing elsewhere in 2021.
NFL rumors: Washington Football Team, New York Giants interested in Allen Robinson
Chicago must decide by March 9 whether or not it wants to place the franchise tag on Robinson. The move would cost more than $16 million, with the contract fully guaranteed. Given the team’s tight cap situation, that’s something the Bears can’t really afford and it’s even more challenging with their strong pursuit of star quarterback Deshaun Watson.

For now, general manager Ryan Pace is saying all the right things. But negotiations between the two sides on a long-term deal went poorly in 2020. Ultimately, the front office might have little choice but to either let him hit the open market or tag him and then trade him. If that happens, there are already teams to watch.
NFL news: Chicago Bears reportedly will franchise tag Allen Robinson this offseason
Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler mentioned the Washington Football Team and New York Giants as two teams to monitor closely for Robinson.
Both teams make a ton of sense. Washington ($44.8 million) and New York ($10 million) both have financial flexibility and the Giants can create more room if needed. While WF does have Terry McLaurin, who is perfectly capable of being a great No. 1 receiver, pairing him with Robinson would create an incredible duo.

Robinson can thrive in any situation, he showed that in recent years by catching passes from Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky. He is coming off consecutive seasons with 90-plus catches, six-plus touchdowns and over 1,100 receiving yards. In a better environment, he could put up even better numbers.
The Giants could certainly use the help at wide receiver. Golden Tate is gone, Sterling Shepard is a complementary weapon and Darius Slayton is best served as a No. 3 receiver in a good offense. Robinson would instantly become Daniel Jones‘ favorite target.
Whether Allen Robinson hits the open market or is traded, there will be no shortage of suitors after him. Even if it costs a 2021 third-round pick to acquire him or a hefty contract, he will more than makeup for it with his play.
