Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a decision about his future with free agency starting.
Rodgers had met with the New York Jets about a potential trade from his current Green Bay Packers team earlier in March. At that point, it seemed as if the 39-year-old signal caller was set to head to Jersey.
Fast forward over a week, and things are still up in the air heading into the NFL free agent tampering period.
According to this note from ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Rodgers has yet to let the Jets or Packers know what he plans on doing.
It was noted recently that New York and Green Bay had worked out the parameters of a trade that would send Rodgers back east after 18 seasons in Wisconsin. Said return will likely be a first-round pick and change for Green Bay.

Rodgers opting to drag his feet is going to have some widespread ramifications for both the Packers and Jets.
The quarterback is currently on Green Bay’s books for $31.62 million in 2023 with NFL free agency officially set to open on Wednesday. As the tampering period gets going on Monday, the Packers are now left trying to figure out what’s happening.

New York Jets quarterback situation and Aaron Rodgers
To a lesser extent, New York has no idea what to do as it prepares to hit the free agent market. ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted on Monday that the team could get in on the Jimmy Garoppolo sweepstakes. But it won’t do that unless it becomes clear Rodgers will not accept a trade.
All of this comes after the Jets restructured multiple contracts as a way to fit Rodgers in under their salary cap. Several star players in Jersey have also publicly recruited Rodgers, creating somewhat of an issue as it relates to embattled young quarterback Zach Wilson.
As for what to expect moving forward, the Packers are ready to roll with former first-round pick Jordan Love under center.
For Aaron Rodgers, the decision is clear. He can either opt to accept the trade to New York, look for another potential landing spot or retire. It seems as if Green Bay has turned the page on him heading into the 2023 season.
