If you thought Thursday night’s game between the winless Denver Broncos and New York Jets was going to be a dud, join the club. Denver is dealing with a plethora of injuries on both sides of the ball. Meanwhile, Adam Gase’s Jets are by far the worst team in the NFL.

Much like everything else 2020-related, we might be able to throw that entire narrative out the window. After tossing three interceptions, including two that were returned for touchdowns this past Sunday, Jets quarterback Sam Darnold decided to use his legs to make a play.

In what has to be considered one of the craziest touchdown runs for a quarterback in league history, the struggling signal caller broke multiple tackles en route to scoring from 46 yards out. This is not a drill.

That had some Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen wrapped into one right there. How Darnold avoided Broncos linebacker Alexander Johnson in the backfield is now one of the greatest scientific questions of our time.

The No. 3 overall pick of New York back in 2018, Darnold entered Thursday’s game with 33 rushing yards through three weeks. He’s now more than doubled that.

If the Jets can’t pass the ball, they might as well decide to use Darnold as a run-first quarterback. After all, nothing else has worked for the embattled Adam Gase thus far this season.
