San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama makes NBA history in career-best performance

San Antonio Spurs rookie No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama has been one of a few bright spots for an otherwise bad team that entered Wednesday’s NBA action against the Detroit Pistons with a 5-30 record.

The 7-foot-4 France native took that to a whole new level in leading San Antonio to a 130-108 win over Detroit on the road Wednesday night.

Wembanyama scored 16 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists. He became the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double without a turnover. At 20 years and six days old, he surpassed the great Andre Iguodala in that category.

Wembanyama also became the youngest center in Association history to record a triple-double while joining Russell Westbrook as the only player in the history of the game to register a triple-double in just 24 minutes or less. He did it in just 21 minutes. Just insane stuff here.

We knew that Wembanyama was considered a generational talent when San Antonio selected him No. 1 overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. But putting up this type of performance — regardless of the level of competition — is just absurd.

It goes without saying that people had their reactions to what Wembanyama was able to do Wednesday evening in Detroit.
