Pittsburgh Steelers fans have not been in a good mood all season despite their team heading into Thursday night’s game against the New England Patriots with a 7-5 record.
Former offensive coordinator Matt Canada faced their wrath before head coach Mike Tomlin opted to fire him earlier in the season.
It’s now Mitch Trubisky’s turn. With the veteran replacing an injured Kenny Pickett under center, he faced widespread booing from Steelers fans early on Thursday night. They were also calling for Mason Rudolph to take over at quarterback after Trubisky completed just three of his first eight passes for 19 yards with an interception.
Imagine attempting to do your job and having north of 68,400 colleagues calling for your head. That was the scene inside Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh as the Steelers struggled early.
They fell down 21-3 halfway through the second quarter against a two-win Patriots squad that had scored all of 13 points in their past three games heading into Thursday Night Football.

It’s not just Mitch Trubisky. Steelers quarterbacks have been downright disastrous all season long. They entered Week 14 having thrown eight touchdowns compared to six interceptions in 12 games. They also lead the league’s fifth-worst scoring offense at 16.0 points per game.
As for Trubisky, those watching the game at home were not impressed by his performance, either.
