It was two years ago this summer that Andrew Wiggins found himself as a Golden State Warriors legend. The former No. 1 overall pick put up a stellar NBA Finals performance in a win over the Boston Celtics.
Fast forward two years, and Wiggins could be headed out of the Bay Area. The 29-year-old wing is coming off two down seasons that saw him miss ample time for personal reasons. Golden State is also looking to retool on the fly.
Despite his five-year, $147.7 million contract; Wiggins still provides some value on the trade block due to his three-and-D ability (39% three-point shooter from 2021-23). Here, we look at five ideal Wiggins trade scenarios from the Warriors this summer.

Toronto Raptors add Andrew Wiggins in big time trade
Wiggins returning home to his native Toronto makes sense from both an on-court and off-court standpoint. That’s magnified with his family being located in Canada. As for the Raptors, the idea of teaming Wiggins up with recently-extended forward Scottie Barnes would create one of the best defensive tandems in the NBA. Add in the backcourt of Immanuel Quickley and R.J. Barrett, and this is a core four that the Raptors can build around moving forward.
Andrew Wiggins to Toronto Raptors trade scenario
- Toronto Raptors get: Andrew Wiggins
- Golden State Warriors get: Jakob Poeltl, Chris Boucher
In this scenario, Golden State adds size to a roster that it has been missing it. Primarily, the 7-foot Poeltl provides that big time. He’s averaging 12.5 points and 9.0 rebounds on 63% shooting since the start of the 2021-22 season. Boucher gives Golden State depth in the frontcourt in this scenario, too.

Orlando Magic add veteran wing to the mix
It’s no surprise that the Magic are being linked to veterans after a surprise appearance in the NBA Playoffs. The idea here is to provide more perimeter options to go with star forward Paolo Banchero and rising player Franz Wagner. Wiggins has proven to be just that when he’s on. He could slide into the starting five at the three next to Banchero and Wagner.
Andrew Wiggins to Orlando Magic trade scenario

- Golden State Warriors get: Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr.
By taking on Wiggins’ contract, Orlando picks up two future second-round picks that could prove valuable moving forward. In turn, the Warriors get depth behind Stephen Curry at point guard. They also add a versatile center in Carter Jr. who carved out a solid role in Orlando last season (11.0 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 53% shooting).

Andrew Wiggins to Miami Heat in blockbuster trade
The question is rather obvious in South Beach. Will Miami trade Jimmy Butler this summer or offer the veteran an extension? All signs point to the Heat actually trading Butler, which would create a need to retool on the fly. At the very least, Wiggins’ contract could provide Miami with an opportunity to flip his contract.

- Miami Heat get: Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Kevon Looney
- Golden State Warriors get: Jimmy Butler
This one is a tad complicated as it relates to the specifics. If Pat Riley and Co. do go into rebuild mode, Kuminga would be a good start. Still only 21 years old, he averaged 16.1 points and 4.8 rebounds on 53% shooting from the field last season. As for the Warriors, they have been linked to Butler in trade rumors. It makes perfect sense with the team looking to get the most out of Stephen Curry’s twilight and in the need of a wing.

Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine blockbuster trade
The Bulls are going to trade Zach LaVine this summer. It’s just a matter of time. He missed all but 25 games due to injury last season. He’s also playing under a bloated five-year, $215 million contract. This means Chicago will have to take pennies on the dollar to move him. The best offer will win out.
Andrew Wiggins to Chicago Bulls trade scenario
- Chicago Bulls get: Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, Gui Santos
- Golden State Warriors get: Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic
This is a mere cost-cutting move for the Bulls. Chris Paul’s $30 million salary for next season is non-guaranteed. Sure, Wiggins still has roughly $85 million due to him. Even then, this deal saves Chicago roughly $94-plus million long-term. As for the Warriors, they’d get a capable 20-plus point scorer when healthy. The team has also been linked to a stretch-five like Nikola Vucevic a lot in recent years.
Andrew Wiggins trade to the Atlanta Hawks
Atlanta has been linked to trades of both Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. It remains to be seen which guard will be dealt this summer, if any. What we do know is that the Hawks will want to get a combination of young players and draft assets for Murray should they trade him.

Andrew Wiggins to Atlanta Hawks trade scenario

- Golden State Warriors get: Dejounte Murray, Bogdon Bogdanovic
Not only does Atlanta add two future first-round picks in this hypothetical trade, it gets off Bogdanovic’s contract. It’s no small thing for what could be a rebuilding team moving forward. A recent first-round pick, Moody is also a good get. As for Golden State, Murray is an ideal fit next to Stephen Curry in the backcourt. Bogdanovic would also provide some perimeter depth for Golden State.
