The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are not resting on their laurels just over a month after earning another Lombardi Trophy.
Instead, general manager Brett Veach and Co. are making sure they’re going to be a juggernaut on offense after the other side of the ball carried them this past season.
In what has to be considered a stunning move, the Chiefs have signed star wide receiver Marquise Brown away from the Arizona Cardinals.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Brown can earn up to $11 million with incentives on a one-year deal. The former Baltimore Ravens first-round pick did not like the offers he was receiving in NFL free agency. He now bets on himself to have a big season with three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes tossing him the rock in Kansas City.

Impact of Kansas City Chiefs signing Marquise Brown
Kansas City was in on some wide receivers in free agency, including Tyler Boyd of the Cincinnati Bengals and Curtis Samuel. Once Samuel signed with the Buffalo Bills, the team apparently transitioned to Brown.
Brown had three extremely productive seasons with Lamar Jackson after the Baltimore Ravens made him a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
His final season in Baltimore saw the 26-year-old receiver haul in 91 passes for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns. All said, he tallied 21 scores in three seasons with the Ravens.
Acquired by Arizona in a trade ahead of the 2022 season, the Oklahoma product was not as productive. He tallied 118 receptions and 1,283 yards in two seasons with Arizona. Though, a questionable quarterback situation played a role in that. He won’t have such issues in Kansas City.
Brown now joins a Chiefs wide receiver room that includes youngster Rashee Rice. He caught 79 passes as a rookie last season. Kansas City’s second-leading pass-catcher from the wide receiver position was Kadarius Toney with 27 receptions.
