The Houston Texans may be in the running for a reunion with former star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
The Houston Texans are in the early stages of another major overhaul. They are on their fifth head coach in five years and are hoping former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans can bring the franchise back to the relevancy it has rarely had during its 20 years of existence.

A key part of the team’s culture change will also be their two first-round picks from the 2023 NFL Draft — CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr. While Ryans will surely have a key role in trying to maximize Anderson Jr.’s talents on defense, it will be a bit harder on offense for CJ Stroud.
A quarterback needs weapons to succeed, especially a rookie trying to get acquainted with playing the toughest position at the highest level of the sport. During the offseason, the Houston Texans traded top receiver Brandon Cooks, however, they replaced him with two-time 1,000-yard receiver Robert Woods.
However, a new report claims they may not be done trying to give Stroud some help in his first season.
Houston Texans a contender for DeAndre Hopkins in NFL free agency
On Thursday, Houston Chronicle NFL writer Brooks Kubena reported on the developing market for new free agent DeAndre Hopkins. The former Houston Texans star was released by the Arizona Cardinals after a disappointing three-year tenure. Since being cut, the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Cleveland Browns have all been linked to a possible pursuit of the five-time Pro Bowler.
- DeAndre Hopkins stats (2022): 9 games, 64 catches, 717 yards, 3 TD
However, Kubena claimed that Hopkins is “gauging multiple teams” as potential landing spots, and a return to the team he played seven seasons with is a potential option. While The Houston Texans may not be as competitive as the aforementioned teams in 2024, they have more available cap space. That, matched with definitely being the WR1 in Houston could make the Texans a very appealing option for the 30-year-old.
DeAndre Hopkins went to four Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro honors on three occasions as a member of the Houston Texans from 2013 to 2019. He was traded to the Cardinals ahead of the 2020 season.
