Men’s College Basketball Top 10 Power Rankings Week 16: New No. 1 As Alabama Tumbles

There’s a new No. 1 in Sportsnaut’s Men’s College Basketball Top 10 Power Rankings as Alabama lost back-to-back games to Auburn and Missouri. Three new teams also make the list for Week 16. Here are the latest movers and shakers.

10. Wisconsin Badgers (Last week: Not ranked)

Wisconsin (21-5) enters the top 10 after winning five straight games, including a 94-84 victory over No. 13 Purdue. The Badgers face Oregon (Feb. 22) and Washington (Feb. 25).

9. Michigan Wolverines (Last week: Not ranked)

Michigan (20-5) appears in the rankings riding a six-game winning streak, recently defeating No. 13 Purdue (75-73) and Ohio State (86-83). The Wolverines face in-state rival No. 14 Michigan State (Feb. 21) and Nebraska (Feb. 24).

8. St. John’s Red Storm (Last week: 9)

St. John’s (23-4) bounced back after losing to Villanova, beating Creighton (79-73) and DePaul (82-58). The Red Storm faces UConn (Feb. 23) and Butler (Feb. 26).

7. Tennessee Volunteers (Last week: 6)

Tennessee (21-5) had an up-and-down week, losing to No. 17 Kentucky (75-64) before beating Vanderbilt (81-76). The Volunteers visit No. 7 Texas A&M (Feb. 22) and LSU (Feb. 25).

6. Alabama Crimson Tide (Last week: 1)

Alabama (21-5) plummets five spots to No. 6 following losses to Auburn (94-85) and No. 15 Missouri (110-98). The schedule remains tough with No. 17 Kentucky (Feb. 22) and No. 21 Mississippi State (Feb. 25).

5. Iowa State Cyclones (Last week: Not ranked)

Iowa State (21-5) vaults to No. 5 after winning four straight, including victories over Cincinnati (81-70) and Colorado (79-65). The Cyclones face Houston (Feb. 22) and Oklahoma State (Feb. 25).

4. Houston Cougars (Last week: 5)

Houston (22-4) secured a big road win over No. 19 Arizona (62-58) and followed with a victory against Arizona State (80-65). The Cougars face No. 8 Iowa State (Feb. 22) and No. 9 Texas Tech (Feb. 24).

3. Duke Blue Devils (Last week: 4)

Duke (23-3) has dominated since losing to Clemson, defeating Stanford by 36 and Virginia by 18. The Blue Devils face Illinois (Feb. 22) and Miami (Feb. 25).

2. Florida Gators (Last week: 2)

Florida (23-2) continues rolling, beating South Carolina by 21 and Oklahoma by 22. The Gators visit LSU (Feb. 22) and Georgia (Feb. 25).

1. Auburn Tigers (Last week: 3)

Auburn (24-2) returns to No. 1 after defeating previous top-ranked Alabama (94-85) and Arkansas (67-60). The Tigers face Georgia (Feb. 22) and No. 24 Ole Miss (Feb. 26).
