MLB award predictions 2024: Cy Young Award predictions
Before diving into our 2024 Cy Young Award predictions for the National League and American League this season, we’ll take a quick look at the Cy Young odds for 2024 ahead of Opening Day per BetMGM.
Cy Young Award odds 2024
NL Cy Young 2024
- Spencer Strider, Braves – +525
- Zack Wheeler, Phillies – +900
- Logan Webb, Giants – +1200
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dodgers – +1300
- Max Fried, Braves – +1400
- Zac Gallen Diamondbacks – +1400
AL Cy Young 2024
- Gerrit Cole, Yankees – +500
- Kevin Gausman, Blue Jays – +650
- Framber Valdez, Astros – +850
- Corbin Burnes, Orioles – +900
- Pablo Lopez, Twins – +1100
- Luis Castillo, Mariners – +1100
The AL’s Cy Young race is deeper than that in the National League. However, we’re bypassing the three odds-on favorites to come out on top of the American League. As for the NL, we’re less confident in Spencer Strider having the secondary pitches to compile the low ERA necessary to win the award. Logan Webb could, but the lack of wins in San Francisco hurts his candidacy.
- NL Cy Young winner: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dodgers
- AL Cy Young winner: Corbin Burnes, Baltimore Orioles
Yamamoto dominated in Japan last season, showcasing the stuff to be a front-line starter immediately for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Plus, the Dodgers lineup will give him the run support needed for a lot of wins and being one of the front-line starters for a World Series contender adds a narrative for voters. As for the AL, Corbin Burnes could be the piece to put the Orioles’ rotation over the top and if Baltimore wins the AL East led by Burnes, hell warrant taking home the honor.

2024 MLB awards predictions: Rookie of the Year
MLB has awarded the Rookie of the Year honor every year to the best rookie in each respective league. The Rookie of the Year is voted on by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Let’s dive into an early look at the MLB Rookie of the Year candidates in 2024. Odds are courtesy of BetMGM.
NL Rookie of the Year 2024
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dodgers – +200
- Jackson Chourio, Brewers – +800
- Jung Hoo Lee, Giants – +900
- Noelvi Marte, Reds – +900
- Shota Imanaga, Cubs – +1000
It will come as no surprise that our NL ROY pick is Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who we believe will emerge as a top front-line starter in the Dodgers’ rotation this season. While Jackson Chourio will likely develop into a perennial All-Star outfielder, Yamamoto. should be the much better contributor in 2024 and he’ll be doing it with the national spotlight on Los Angeles.

AL Rookie of the Year 2024
- Evan Carter, Rangers – +275
- Jackson Holliday, Orioles – +300
- Wyatt Langford, Rangers – +700
- Colt Keith, Detroit Tigers – +1000
- Junior Caminero, Rays – +1000
There’s more risk with the AL ROY candidates this year outside of the favorites. Again, we prefer Jackson Holiday over Evan Carter long-term, but the Texas Rangers rookie could be more well-positioned for immediate success. For now, we’re taking Carter to win AL ROY in 2024.
