It appears that we have officially hit the NFL offseason. On the very same day that a record contract was reported, the entire Isaiah Wilson situation with the Tennessee Titans has come to a culmination.
A first-round pick from Georgia last year, Wilson suited up in just one game with the Titans as a rookie. Off-field issues coupled with multiple stints on the COVID-19 list strained the relationship between the right tackle and his organization. Isaiah Wilson is now on the move.
Tennessee Titans trade Isaiah Wilson to the Miami Dolphins
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport was the first to break the news. As of right now, the only details include a swap of future late-round NFL Draft picks. This comes just over two weeks after the troubled Wilson declared that he was done with football as a member of the Titans in a since-deleted Tweet.
It also come amid suggestions that general manager Jon Robinson and the Titans were looking to find a way to move off the No. 29 overall pick in last year’s draft.
Off the field, Isaiah Wilson has had two run-ins with law enforcement since the 2020 NFL Draft. That included an incident during training camp in which the offensive tackle allegedly threatened to jump off a balcony. Then, in September, Wilson was charged with a DUI after crashing his vehicle into a concrete wall.
The hope here is that a change of scenery will do the troubled former first-round pick good. Only time will tell on that front.
