A new report from an NFL insider suggests the Tennessee Titans could soon give up on a former first-round pick after just two seasons.
Life in the NFL has not gone as hoped for wide receiver Treylon Burks. Over his first two years in the league, the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft has only suited up in 22 games, made just 15 starts, and only posted 665 yards. It’s a far cry from what he did during a dominant Junior season at Arkansas where he tallied 1,104 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
He has been hampered by poor conditioning and injuries and has never gotten close to showing his potential as a pass catcher at the next level. And now it seems like the team may be ready to move on from the 24-year-old prospect, at least according to ESPN NFL senior writer Mike Clay.

“With Tyler Boyd and Zay Jones visiting, it really seems like the Titans are planning to move on from Treylon Burks,” Clay wrote in a post on X. “I’m curious to see if a WR-needy team takes a shot on the 24-year-old former first-round pick.”

There have been rumors for weeks about the Giants’ and Jets’ interest in improving their passing options for the 2024 NFL season.
While Gang Green already has Garrett Wilson and signed veteran Mike Williams, the organization is in win-now mode and wants to give Aaron Rodgers as many weapons as possible. With it looking like tight end Darren Waller may retire, the Giants need all the help they can get in the passing game, even after using their top pick in April on LSU star Malik Nabers.

Both would like to add another receiver but at a discount rate and not have to give up much in a potential trade. That is why Burks and his untapped potential could be appealing to both New York organizations. With his stock at a new low after last season, a deal that sends the Titans a fifth or sixth-round pick in 2025 should be enough so they can move his contract off the books ahead of training camp.
While there is risk for both the Jets and Giants, Burks is still so young in his career that a change of scenery could completely turn around his fortunes and he could have a major impact on their rosters with far lower expectations.
