Seattle Seahawks make surprise move to bolster pass rush, add 3-time Pro Bowler

The Seattle Seahawks made a surprise move to improve their already solid pass rush with the addition of a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion.

The Seattle Seahawks are off to a strong start in 2023 as they head into Week 8 of the NFL season with a 4-2 record and in the thick of the NFC West title race. Over their first six games of the season, they have shown that they have an offense that is among the best in the league and features a dangerous passing attack led by quarterback Geno Smith.

Yet, while their defense is not among the worst in the league it could use some improvements. The unit is at or near the bottom 10 in interceptions, tackles, average passing yards against, and missed tackle percentage. It proves they could certainly use some help, especially in the second and third levels of the defense. Since they seem to be solid upfront and are tied for the fifth most sacks in the league.

Yet on Wednesday, they made an interesting move to help improve the pressure they get on quarterbacks for the rest of the season. NFL Media league insider Ian Rapoport was one of the first to report that “Free agent Frank Clark is, in fact, signing with the Seahawks after he passes his physical today.”

The veteran linebacker was in Seattle for a meeting with the team today and CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson reported directly from Clark that a deal was likely if the conversation went well.

After four seasons in Kansas City, which included all three of his Pro Bowl appearances, Clark signed with the Denver Broncos in the offseason. However, he was a poor fit for the team and only played in two games before getting released earlier this month.

Recently there were reports that the Chiefs would make a push to re-sign him. However, he will instead return to the team he played his first four seasons in the NFL with after being selected in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. In two of his seasons in Seattle Clark tallied double-digit sacks years (10 in 2016, and 13 in 2018).
