San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo struggled in the first half of his team’s outing against the division-rival Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Garoppolo started the game by completing his first six passes before ending the initial half completing just 8 of his final 17 passes, including an interception.

Surprisingly, Garoppolo did not join the rest of his 49ers offense on the field for the start of the third quarter. The Super Bowl quarterback was dealing with a calf injury and found himself replaced by rookie No. 3 pick Trey Lance. Officially, Garoppolo is questionable to return for the San Francisco 49ers.

There’s been a lot of talk in Northern California about Lance potentially replacing Garoppolo, the latter of whom has struggled over each of the past two games.

Lance went on to miss on his first two passes to open up the third quarter.

It will be interesting to see what 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and Co. do moving forward if Garoppolo if cleared to return.

San Francisco entered Week 4 with a 2-1 record and is coming off a brutal late-game loss to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
