The Pittsburgh Steelers added two quarterbacks last offseason, but they need to address the position again. Both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are free agents, leaving the Steelers without a quarterback for 2025.
While the Steelers have expressed interest in bringing one of Wilson or Fields back, Pittsburgh is expected to also consider outside options. Now we know one of the quarterbacks they’ve considered.

If Russell Wilson or Justin Fields return, they’ll try to find more consistency for a Pittsburgh Steelers offense that ranked 16th in scoring this past season. However, we also saw how the offense fell apart down the stretch, failing to score more than 17 points in any of their final five games, which were all losses.
As a result, the Steelers may prefer to shop around for quarterback upgrades this offseason, but their options are somewhat limited.
However, according to Ryan Burr, the Steelers have registered interest in trading for Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence.
“Steelers have made inquiries to the Jaguars about a trade for QB Trevor Lawerence. This directly from the horses mouth in the Jags organization. WOW!”

Burr adds that the Steelers would have to trade their first and second-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, which would be the 21st and 53rd overall picks.
While the Steelers and any other team can internally express an interest in trying to trade for the former No. 1 overall pick, it doesn’t mean the Jaguars are willing to listen.
