A new report makes it seem like Paul George taking his talents to the Philadelphia 76ers this summer is a foregone conclusion for many around the NBA.
Heading into the NBA games today the 76ers and Clippers are in very different positions. Philly is at the back of the top eight and in a desperate fight to avoid falling any further in the NBA standings. While the Clippers are among the top four in the Western Conference.

However, the Sixers’ difficult position is due to being without their top player, Joel Embiid, for almost two months. Even when he returns, they are still probably one more major impact player away from being a serious threat to win a championship next season.
Over the last few weeks, there have been rumblings that the 76ers already have their summer sites set on a specific player to be a part of a big three with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, and it is Clippers star Paul George. Now a new report makes it seem like the six-time All-Star signing with the 76ers this summer is a nearlock.
Many around the NBA believe Paul George and 76ers are likely to agree to a deal this summer
On Thursday, Philadelphia Inquirer 76ers insider Keith Pompey reported that the team’s “desire to acquire Paul George in free agency is the NBA’s worst-kept secret.” Furthermore, some around the league feel like it is a good fit and “expect both sides to reach an agreement” when the 33-year-old hits the open market in July.
For a while, it seemed like a matter of time before George would sign a match contract extension with the Clippers to continue playing alongside Kawhi Leonard for many more seasons. However, contract talks between George and the team have reportedly hit a stalemate and blew the doors wide open for him to play elsewhere next season.
