The New England Patriots are now 2-4 on the season following Sunday’s blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Apparently, this won’t change New England’s plans heading into the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 3.

According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Patriots are looking to target one position in a potential trade.

NFL trade rumors: New England Patriots looking for wide receiver help

“A year after trading a second-round pick for Mohamed Sanu, a deal that provided little reward with the receiver quickly injured, the Patriots remain in the market for a pass catcher, league sources said, with the team’s lingering lack of speed and ability in the downfield pass game still a prevailing issue,” La Canfora reported.

The NFL insider specifically mentioned Adam Thielen (Vikings), Will Fuller (Texans) and Breshad Perriman (Jets) as options for the Patriots.

None of this should be considered too much of a surprise. The Jets have already gone into full-scale sell off mode with over a week until the NFL trade deadline. Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that both the Vikings and Texans could trade star players. As for the Vikings, they already dealt Pro Bowl edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens last week.

The Vikings, Texans and Jets being sellers ahead of the trade deadline is not necessarily a surprise. However, there’s players on other teams who could also be dealt.

Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Green has been bandied about some. However, a recent ankle injury coupled with his lack of production and huge salary makes the veteran a hard sell for contending teams. A lesser-known player in that of Marvin Jones from the Detroit Lions could make sense, too.

As of now, the Patriots have lost four of five and are seemingly going nowhere fast. That apparently won’t stop Bill Belichick and Co. from being active ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
