The New York Giants pass game is under siege by a virus of injuries, and they will be without their top three pass catchers for their game on Sunday afternoon against the Green Bay Packers.

The big story throughout the week — besides the Giants’ surprise 3-1 start to the 2022 NFL season — was surrounding the status of their starting quarterback for Week 5. This past Sunday, Daniel Jones injured his ankle in the second half of the team’s win against the Chicago Bears. While the Giants starting signal-caller was on the sidelines, his backup Tyrod Taylor was also knocked out of the game, after suffering a concussion.

Fortunately for the G-Men, Jones returned to the game and is in line to start on Sunday morning (east coast time) for their game against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in England. The news was a huge relief for New York fans since Taylor will not be available, and it could have put the team in a terrible spot if Jones could not suit up.

On Friday morning, ESPN NFL insider Field Yates gave an update on the players that will be inactive for the Giants on Sunday. And not only did it include Taylor, as expected, but it also featured the team’s top three receivers on their depth chart.

“The Giants have ruled out QB Tyrod Taylor, WR Wan’Dale Robinson, WR Kadarius Toney, WR Kenny Golladay, LB Azeez Ojulari, DB Cor’Dale Flott, and DL Henry Mondeaux for Sunday vs Green Bay.”

Head coach Brian Daboll suggested earlier in the week that Toney (hamstring) and Robinson (knee), the first wide receivers the team has taken over the last two drafts, had made progress from their injuries and could possibly play this week. Golladay and his sprained MCL were never expected to get on the field versus the Packers.

This will be Toney’s third straight missed game after being sidelined for seven in his rookie season. Robinson has only played in the Giants’ Week 1 win. The team is already without their most tenured player Sterling Shepard, who was put on injured reserve after tearing his ACL in Week 3.

The starting wide receivers in Week 5 are expected to be David Sills V, Richie James, and Darius Slayton.
