The New York Giants have been bandied about a whole lot as a potential trade-up or trade-down partner leading up to Thursday night’s NFL Draft.

New York is picking sixth overall in the annual event. General manager Joe Schoen and Co. have been linked to some of the top quarterbacks in the class. The growing belief is that New York is looking to replace struggling and injury-plagued quarterback Daniel Jones.

We now have more information on this with the draft getting going in a few hours.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, New York is trying to trade up with the New England Patriots at three in order to nab North Carolina product Drake Maye. According to Schultz, it’s a long shot to happen. However, New England is listening to calls.

Caleb Williams is slated to go No. 1 to the Chicago Bears with the Washington Commanders honing in on fellow quarterback Jayden Daniels at two. This would leave Maye as the pick to New England or another team at three.

It issue here is New England’s ridiculous asking price in trade-down talks. It seems that the team is extremely high on Maye as a potential franchise quarterback after trading away Mac Jones earlier in the offseason.

As for the Giants, they are looking to move on from Jones at some point soon after handing him a four-year, $160 million contract last offseason. Jones is recovering from a torn ACL after throwing just two touchdowns compared to six interceptions in six starts a season ago.
