New York Giants put up another stinker, lose to Philadelphia Eagles 34-10

Sunday was another painful day for New York Giants fans as they saw their team get dismantled by the (8-7) Philadelphia Eagles 34-10.

The loss was New York’s fourth in a row and officially eliminated them from playoff contention. It also guaranteed that they will not improve on their win total from a season ago when they went 6-10.

Despite what head coach Joe Judge may say, there were no positive takeaways from this game for the Giants.

Jake Fromm made his first NFL start in hopes that he could provide the offense with a spark. But he was overwhelmed by the Eagles’ defense completing just six-of-17 passes for 25 yards and an interception.

Fromm was eventually replaced by Mike Glennon who would only fair marginally better completing 17 out of 27 passes for 93 yards with a touchdown and an interception to Alex Singleton who ran it back 29 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

If you didn’t watch the game, you would have thought from looking at the final score that the Eagles were in control of the entire game. But the game was actually tied at three at halftime, due to Philadelphia’s offense being just as inept as New York’s.

But the Eagles would regroup at the break and would go on to score 31 unanswered points.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was more efficient in the second half and finished the game connecting on 17-of-29 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns. The Eagles also outgained Big Blue on the ground 130-84.

To sum it up, what could go wrong, did go wrong for the Giants Sunday afternoon.

The defense fell apart in the second half after a strong showing in the first half. The special teams unit was abysmal as Riley Dixon had six punts that traveled less than 40 yards, and they allowed a 39-yard punt return by Jalen Reagor.

There was another key injury as tackle Matt Peart who started the game in place of Nate Solder who was out due to being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list left the game with a sprained knee.

New York Giants’ woes under Joe Judge continue

Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that Judge and Daniel Jones will both be back for the 2022 season with the New York Giants. However, if the team doesn’t put forth a more inspiring effort in their final two games, you have to wonder if John Mara will have second thoughts about Judge’s future.

Former Giants head coach Bill Parcells has a famous saying “ You are what your record says you are”.  Well right now Judge’s record as head coach is 10-21, and it’s a hard sell to convince Giants fans that he’s the right man to turn the franchise around.
