Another billionaire has reportedly joined the bidding war to purchase the Washington Commanders.
The Washington Commanders sale has dragged on far longer than most expected after majority owner Daniel Snyder began the process to sell the team late last year. Despite bids being made by several interested parties in December, there has seemingly been little progress toward the franchise finding new ownership.

It has led many NFL observers to speculate if Synder really wants to sell the team. Especially with rumors he would prefer Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos to not be the winning bidder, and reports that he has an asking price that would shatter all records for sports team sales ever.
Along with Bezos, some of the absurdly wealthy individuals that have shown interest in purchasing the team include billionaire Michael Bloomberg and a group led by Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris and NBA legend Magic Johnson.

Well, it seems another billionaire has joined the Washington Commanders sale sweepstakes. On Wednesday, ESPN reported that Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos has become the newest contender to purchase the organization.
Apostolopoulos reportedly took a tour of the team’s stadium and training facility recently as he kicks the tires on a purchase that could possibly cost $7 billion. He also has been in talks to buy the Charlotte Hornets from Michael Jordan, but the outlet claims his focus is more on trying to land the NFL franchise instead.
Steve Apostolopoulos is the founder of Six Ventures Inc., which is a private equity venture fund based out of his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He attended Harvard and is a contributor to several philanthropic organizations. His net worth is believed to be as much as $5.5 billion, so he likely won’t be buying the team by himself.
