2024 MLB rumors: Latest buzz entering spring training
Milwaukee Brewers plans with Willy Adames, Devin Williams
After parting ways with Brandon Woodruff and then trading Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles, many assumed a mini-firesale was looming for the Milwaukee Brewers. Unsurprisingly, clubs called Milwaukee about standout infielder Willy Adames and All-Star reliever Devin Williams.

However, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Brewers aren’t shopping either player. While it is believed that could change closer to the 2024 trade deadline in July if Milwaukee isn’t winning the NL Central, for now, Adames and Williams will likely be staying in Brewers’ uniforms. However, we’d expect MLB rumors to pick up in June regarding the two since Williams and Adames are on expiring contracts.
Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres discussing MLB trade
The San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox have both shed significant payroll this past offseason, with San Diego trading All-Star outfielder Juan Soto and Boston dealing both starting pitcher Chris Sale and outfielder Alex Verdugo. Now, the two clubs appear to be exploring a potential deal together.

According to Robert Murray of Fansided, the Red Sox and Padres have held exploratory discussions on a deal that would send outfielder Jarren Duran to San Diego. With the departure of Trent Grisham and Soto this winter, the Padres are in desperate need of outfield depth. Boston has floated Duran in MLB trade rumors for over a month and the two sides could revisit talks later this spring.
Kenley Jansen generating significant trade interest
The Red Sox seem fully committed to taking apart pieces of their roster in 2024. Having already moved on from Sale and Verdugo, another All-Star talent is being floated in MLB trade rumors. According to the NY Post’s Jon Heyman, Boston is still “fielding offers” for closer Kenley Jansen.
The Los Angeles Dodgers were one of the teams linked to Jansen, with a belief that a return to Los Angeles would allow him to serve as a set-up man for Evan Phillips. However, recent signings of Justin Wilson and Ryan Brasier could change that. Even if the Dodgers are out on Jansen, Heyman notes that the Padres and Philadelphia Phillies are among the clubs that have reached out to Boston with interest.
Baltimore Orioles exploring trade market for pitching
After the Baltimore Orioles acquired Corbin Burnes from the Brewers, they received rave reviews with many believing the Orioles had one of the best rotations in baseball. All of that excitement died down at the start of spring training when Baltimore announced Kyle Bradish (UCL sprain) would be placed on the injured list before Opening Day while John Means (elbow soreness) is being brought along slowly.

Suddenly, the club’s pitching depth dried up and there are now long-term concerns for the Orioles rotation because of the major risks of elbow injuries. In the wake of the injury news, Jon Heyman reports that Baltimore is now back in the market for starting pitching. As of now, they haven’t checked back in on ace Dylan Cease, who the Chicago White Sox intend to keep through July. However, the depth in the Orioles farm system means they do have the resources to acquire another front-line starter or, more likely, pitching depth for the back of their rotation.
