Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons is never afraid to rock the boat. The All-Pro’s takes don’t typically seem to target the ‘Boys. Rather, he’s been on both ends of back-and-forths with opponents.
Weeks removed from his Cowboys being humiliated in a blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card Playoffs, Parsons is turning his attention to his own organization.
It was earlier in the week that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made news by indicating that they’ll be going all in this offseason as the organization looks to end its near three-decade Super Bowl drought.
“We will be going all in. I would say that you will see us this coming year not build it for the future,” Jones said.
About that? Parsons had a response on his The Edge podcast recently.
“They’re talking about how we’re going ‘all in’ this year. Man, that’s what I would hope for,” Parsons said. “I’m 24 years old. I’ve been in this league three years and I’ve kinda seen it all. I hope we go all in. I hope that we go out and get the players that we’re missing, because we didn’t do that this year.”
Ouch.
Despite being up against the NFL salary cap, Dallas was able to add stud wide receiver Brandin Cooks and Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore on team-friendly trades last offseason.
Gilmore turned in a solid all-around performance, yielding a 55.8% completion and 82.7 QB rating when targeted. Brandin Cooks was also decent with 657 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Micah Parsons take on Dallas Cowboys should be a bit concerning
We’re not trying to play into a certain narrative. But Parsons is eligible for a contract extension for the first time in his career this offseason. Dallas has to seriously consider extending star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, too. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Dak Prescott will be made the highest-paid player in league history.
There is a salary cap in the NFL. Right now, the Cowboys are roughly $11 million over that figure. They have a lot of work to do in order to become players in NFL free agency.
It seems as if Parsons is not going to be happy unless the Cowboys are active in adding big-name players to the mix. Whether that’s in the cards starting in March remains to be seen.
