NFL insider suggests Las Vegas Raiders are no longer in on Aaron Rodgers

Will the Las Vegas Raiders pursue Aaron Rodgers or not? It’s a big question plenty of NFL observers are dying to know. That’s if the Green Bay Packers are even ready to move on from the four-time NFL MVP. Many reports point to the Packers moving forward with Jordan Love at quarterback, which would seemingly push Rodgers out the door.

But he’s expected to have plenty of suitors, meaning the Raiders likely won’t be his only option. Yet again, that’s if the Raiders are even interested.

Yahoo Sports’ senior NFL insider Charles Robinson mentioned on his You Pod to Win the Game podcast that the Raiders could opt to go in another direction in 2023, choosing to chase after a long-term solution instead of a stopgap.

“I think it’s interesting that the betting favorites on Aaron Rodgers’ next team are the Jets and Raiders. The Raiders have done nothing to make you think they’re still in on Rodgers. When you talk to people involved in this, the feeling seems to be they want to get their hands on one of the young quarterbacks, develop a player and not do the stopgap, one-or-two year veteran QB dance. I think they would have done it for Brady. I don’t think they categorize them (veterans available) as the same kind of swing, because of the lack of familiarity with Rodgers and Josh McDaniels and Tom Brady. I think they’ve done an immense amount on the young QBs.”

With the Raiders holding the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, they would appear to have a chance to land one of the top four quarterbacks expected to be selected in the first round.

Barring a trade up, the Raiders may be outside of the range of Alabama’s Bryce Young and Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, but there’s always the possibility of Florida’s Anthony Richardson or Kentucky’s Will Levis being available by the time Las Vegas is on the clock.

Or, maybe the Raiders become convinced that any of the above are their long-term solution and are willing to pay a premium to move up the draft board.

Either way, it doesn’t appear the Raiders are ready to hitch their cart to Rodgers any time soon.
