Kyle Busch provides big opinion on a controversial NASCAR track beyond 2023

Kyle Busch provides a big opinion on the future of NASCAR racing at this controversial track. What did Busch have to say about the situation?

Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch has been one of NASCAR’s most polarizing drivers for the last decade and it has produced a great amount of success. This includes two NASCAR Cup Series titles and 226 total wins across the sport’s three divisions.

Busch is one of the top-10 best drivers in NASCAR history and that success has only carried over into the 2023 NASCAR season. The 37-year-old driver has never gone winless in his 19 full-time Cup Series seasons and broke Richard Petty’s record for most consecutive seasons with a victory.

Therefore, Busch has a loud voice in the garage area and it is important to listen to what he says about the sport. The Richard Childress Racing driver continues to earn this respect and he loudly spoke about the future of a controversial NASCAR race track.

Busch’s move to Richard Childress Racing sent shockwaves through the NASCAR garage as it marked one of the biggest moves in silly season history. No one expected the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion to leave Joe Gibbs Racing but it is now a reality.

The days of the No. 18 M&M’s Toyota circling the race track are gone but a new era has begun with Chevrolet. Busch and Richard Childress Racing are a great fit but there is more to the signing than just a NASCAR angle.

Busch made sure that running the Indianapolis 500 was an option in his deal with Richard Childress Racing. The 37-year-old driver did not find a seat for the 2023 Indianapolis 500 despite deep conversations with McLaren Racing but it doesn’t mean the idea will dissipate soon.

This also connects to NASCAR in one significant way. Busch talked about the messy endings of road course races in NASCAR a few weeks ago and brought up the Indianapolis Road Course. This is what Busch had to say about the venue, according to IndyStar.

“I don’t know why we ever went to the (Indianapolis Road Course), to be honest with you. I don’t think it did an uptick or changed a damn thing at Indy. If we can’t do a good enough job getting enough people to Indy to suffice us staying on the oval, then we need to go somewhere else — just like anywhere. I’ll say that about any track.”

Busch is one of many drivers who wish the Indianapolis Road Course was not on the schedule. The hype for the race track has significantly decreased since it makes absolutely zero sense to enter Indianapolis Motor Speedway to only race on the road course.

Quite frankly, it is one of the worst decisions NASCAR and Indianapolis Motor Speedway could have made overall. Busch previously called the Indianapolis Road Course a parking lot and said it was not a fun road course.

Busch is right and not even a rotation of the oval and road course would suffice. NASCAR will end up racing on the road course for the 2023 season for a third straight year and hopefully, Busch’s words will end up making some type of impact.
