The Las Vegas Raiders had put Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow on the trade block earlier this offseason.

Now that head coach Josh McDaniels and Co. have signed another slot guy in Jakobi Meyers, it could be a foregone conclusion that the 27-year-old Renfrow is headed out of Sin City.

Renfrow signed a two-year, $32.33 million contract extension back in June of 2022, shortly after putting up a Pro Bowl performance for the Raiders. A total of $6.5 million of his salary for the 2023 season is already guaranteed. Another $8 million becomes guaranteed on Friday, the third day of the new NFL league year. Expect a move here in short order.

There’s going to be a nice amount of interest in a slot receiver who has not yet hit his prime and carries a mere $6.5 million cap hit for an acquiring team. Below, we look at four ideal Hunter Renfrow trade scenarios.

New Orleans Saints give Derek Carr familiar face

This makes all the sense in the world. New Orleans committed to this former Raiders quarterback on a four-year, $150 million contract ahead of free agency opening up. Why not find him someone who has helped the quarterback succeed big time in the past?

It’s the north of 80% catch rate Renfrow posted in 2021 before an injury-plagued 2022 campaign that stands out. He obviously has a tremendous connection with Carr. There’s also a need with veteran Jarvis Landry on the NFL free agent market. The idea of a top-three of Chris Olave, Michael Thomas and Hunter Renfrow would be sexy for Carr in the Bayou.

Buffalo Bills pick up Hunter Renfrow

Buffalo has been looking for a legitimate slot guy to help Josh Allen over the past few years. The signing of Jamison Crowder last offseason didn’t work out. Bringing Cole Beasley out of retirement was an exercise in futility.

The Bills make perfect sense for Renfrow in that he’d immediately become their second most consistent receiving target behind Stefon Diggs. They have the need. The boast the draft capital. Renfrow’s contract is not limiting. This could make the most sense outside of New Orleans.

Hunter Renfrow lands with the New York Jets

We’re already hearing New York linked to former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb in free agency. There is good reason for this. The Jets could very well be on the verge of landing future first ballot Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers from Green Bay.

If this does go down, New York will have to cater to Rodgers and find him talent on the offensive side of the ball. What better fit than Renfrow? Rodgers’ elite-level accuracy coupled with Renfrow’s ability to get open from the slot could be a match made in heaven. Perhaps, New York offers up young receiver Elijah Moore in exchange.

Dallas Cowboys add another Raiders wide receiver in a trade

We’ve already read reports that Dallas is looking to add at least one big-name wide receiver to go with CeeDee Lamb. As of right now, the team has been linked primarily to Arizona Cardinals star DeAndre Hopkins.

But in reality, slot is more of a need. Veteran Noah Brown is currently on the free agent market. The “Boys don’t boast much behind him on the depth chart. Meanwhile, Lamb and Michael Gallup are going to be asked to do their thing on the outside. Nearly a half-decade after acquiring Amari Cooper from the Raiders, Dallas could very well go back to the well.
