The Green Bay Packers COVID-19 issues took yet another turn Tuesday, two days before their huge Week 8 outing against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals.
Earlier in the week, star wide receiver Davante Adams was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list. While it’s not yet known whether one of the game’s top receivers tested positive for the virus or was a close contact, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be able to suit up.
Adams’ designation on the list came shortly after Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry was ruled out after contracting the virus.
Now comes this note from the Packers themselves indicating that another Green Bay receiver in that of Allen Lazard was also placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

“Per agreed-upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player’s medical status other than referring to roster status,” the Green Bay Packers announced, via their official website. “Being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list is for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons.”

If Lazard and Adams are forced to miss Thursday’s game for a Packers squad that has won six consecutive, it will be a huge blow for Aaron Rodgers.
The two receivers have combined for 67 catches and 928 yards on the season. Lazard is second behind Adams among Green Bay receivers with 15 catches. This means the likes of Randall Cobb and Amari Rodgers will have to step into prominent roles.
“I don’t know. We’re not a better team without him (Adams), that’s for sure. I’d have to look at each of those games, but we just found a way,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “Other guys just got to step up.
