The Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball team is coming off its first NCAA Tournament since 2015, with head coach Michael White turning the program around. With the NCAA college basketball transfer portal opening, Georgia is now getting into the mix for some top prospects.
White has done wonders for Georgia’s basketball program. Under former head coach Tom Crean, the Bulldogs never won more than 16 games in a season and they won 20 combined games in his final two years. With White, the club is now coming off consecutive 20-win seasons.

The House vs NCAA settlement is also expected ot provide schools with more revenue sharing to spend on student-athletes next season, with SEC college basketball programs poised to benefit greatly. Current expectations have Georgia receiving anywhere from $2 to $4 million to be allocated next season toward its basketball team.
While that won’t be enough for the Bulldogs to land one of the best players in the 2025 college basketball transfer portal, there is a deep pool of talent available this offseason. One is already reportedly emerging on the Bulldogs’ radar.

According to On3.com‘s Jamie Shaw, Georgia is a team ‘to watch’ for California Golden Bears freshman guard Jeremiah Wilkinson. It would be an opportunity for the Bulldogs to bring him back home after not pursuing him out of high school.
Wilkinson, a 6-foot-1 guard, starred at McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. He was only a three-star recruit in 2024, rated by 247 Sports as the 30th-best combo guard and the 20th-best Georgia player in his class. He received scholarship offers from Tulsa, Stephen F. Austin, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia State, Butler and Murray State but committed to Cal.

As a freshman, he emerged as a star on an otherwise bad Golden Bears’ team that finished 14-18. Wilkinson ranked second in scoring (15.1 PPG) and he was named the ACC Sixth Man of the Year. After entering the transfer portal on March 20, Wilkinson was ranked 37th by The Athletic and 35th by On3 among the top players in the transfer portal.
While Wilkinson wasn’t an efficient shooter as a freshman, he did score 30-plus points twice, including a 36-point performance against Notre Dame on March 8. He also scored 20-plus points in 10 games this season and made at least four three-pointers five times. Given Georgia’s NIL budget for basketball, Wilkinson could be an ideal option to strengthen their rotation next season.
