Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young has so much to learn and adjust to over the first few months of his debut season, but it seems that the Alabama alum is completely living up to the hype on how smart of a football player he is.
To the surprise of no one, the Carolina Panthers made Bryce Young the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Essentially, the franchise is hoping that the 21-year-old can become the face of the organization and bring them back to relevancy in the near future. However, it is very tough being a rookie QB in the NFL.

The quarterback position is the hardest in the league due to how much has to be done before and after the snap. It is even tougher for a newbie professional signal caller because of how complicated NFL offenses can be compared to college, and the speed of the game is much faster.
Yet, Bryce Young is in an even more difficult situation because of the fact that the Carolina Panthers’ new offense is reportedly a little harder to learn than most. However, the Heisman Trophy winner was already well-regarded for his football IQ, and it seems that superpower has already lived up to the hype over his first few months with the team.
Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young considered a ‘mental savant’
On a Wednesday edition of ESPN’s “Get Up,” league insider Jeremy Fowler revealed some interesting intelligence on how Young has really impressed Carolina coaches in a very important part of their build to the 2023 NFL season.
“I was told his mental aptitude has been as advertised. That’s what he was known for during the draft process, as a mental savant. I was told with the Panthers’ offense is a hard install. It’s got shades of the Los Angeles Rams system from new offensive coordinator Thomas Brown. No new quarterback bats 100 in learning it in the first month, but I was told he was pretty darn close to 100%. So, the Panthers really believe that as long as he has command of the offense, they’re in good shape. They don’t need him to be a hero because this is a really good emerging roster.”

Learning a pro offense is one of the hardest things for a rookie QB to get down, so the fact that Bryce Young has learned it as quickly as a veteran might is a very good sign for the Carolina Panthers heading into training camp.
