Miami Dolphins star EDGE rusher Bradley Chubb was on the field late in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with his team down by 30 points.
The logic of having your starting defense on the field was already questionable as people who were watching the game noted.
That was magnified even further as Chubb went down with a non-contact knee injury with roughly three minutes remaining in the game and Miami down 49-19. He was ultimately carted off the field. As you can see, Chubb was down in the turf screaming out on pain.
It’s brutal for anyone to suffer an injury of this ilk at any time during the season. But on New Year’s Eve with the playoffs approaching takes that to a whole new level.
- Bradley Chubb stats (2023): 68 tackles, 22 QB hits, 11 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 6 forced fumbles
As you can see, Chubb has been absolutely elite for the Dolphins this season. While we’re not going to speculate about the severity of the injury, it did not look good.

As you might imagine, those covering the game and watching it from home were stunned that Chubb was on the field during garbage time. In reality, it does not paint head coach Mike McDaniel in the best of lights.
