The New England Patriots have made Bill Belichick one of the highest-paid NFL coaches for years. With the New England Patriots coach and general manager on the NFL coaching hot seat, it appears there will likely be a strong market for the future Hall of Famer on television.
With TV networkers and companies like Amazon paying the National Football League more than $100 billion for broadcasting rights to NFL games through 2030, there is a strong demand for broadcasters who will pull in viewers. ESPN and Amazon previously pursued Sean McVay and Belichick could be the next target.

Belichick’s future with the Patriots’ organization is uncertain. Franchise owner Robert Kraft cast doubt on Belichick’s job security before the season, expressing more frustration for the team’s poor results in recent years than appreciation for the coach’s past accomplishments. If a change is made, there appears to be a lot of money potential available to Belichick if he wants to transition into television.
Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, who covers sports media, spoke to agents this week about how much Belichick could potentially earn if he makes the transition from head coach to NFL analyst. While the ballpark figures ranged from $10-$18 million, the consensus opinion was Belichick could earn close to $15 million per year.
“Bill’s credibility and experience are more valuable than all current coaches working in media and most former players. I would place his annual value at $15 to 18 million.”

While Belichick doesn’t have the most outgoing personality among NFL coaches and he’s seemed to hate speaking publicly at times, he does also have some history of doing TV work. When NFL Network did a series on the best players of all time, Belichick was one of the main analysts offering insight on the best 100 players in NFL history.
It could also provide Belichick with an opportunity to showcase his football mind, helping millions of football fans learn the finer points of the game. Former Patriots players have shared in the past that behind the scenes, Belichick can be funny and engaging.
Is still remains unlikely that Belichick would leave coaching behind to become a TV analyst. If the Patriots decide to part ways with him in 2024, though, it’s at least possible one of the greatest coaches in NFL history will take a year off and move into a media role.
