Baltimore Ravens general manager throws cold water on potential Antonio Brown signing

Antonio Brown, Baltimore Ravens

If quarterback Lamar Jackson and Baltimore Ravens fans were hoping the team would sign Antonio Brown this offseason, general manager Eric DeCosta threw cold water on the speculation and hope.

Weeks after being released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following his dramatic exit during a game, Brown expressed interest in joining the Ravens. Jackson immediately shared his excitement at the idea, leaving fans debating whether or not Baltimore should sign Brown.

When the former All-Pro receiver tweeted a picture of himself in a Ravens’ uniform, it fueled even more speculation. But DeCosta squashed everything on Friday when The Atletic’s Jeff Zrebiec asked him about the possibility of signing Brown.

When healthy, Brown is an excellent receiver and he could be the go-to option for Jackson. But the Ravens are excited about Rashod Bateman entering his second season and Marquise Brown displayed more consistency in 2021.

Considering all the issues Brown has caused in recent years, both inside the organization and away from the field, Baltimore is an unlikely landing spot. However, NFL teams have apparently reached out to him and it would be a surprise if he isn’t playing in 2022.
