The 2024 NFL season has arrived with kickoff on Thursday between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs. Thanks to the arrival of the regular season, it’s time for Week 1 fantasy rankings for 2024.
There are minimal things to monitoring the NFL injury report and as of now every player who held out is expected to play in Week 1. Of course, the regular-season opener means this is more guesswork than usual, with no stats to base our fantasy football rankings on. Let’s dive into our Week 1 fantasy rankings.

Best fantasy quarterbacks this week
Here, we’re highlighting 5 quarterbacks with quality fantasy football matchups in Week 1. A few premium quarterbacks will be highlighted, but we’ll also name potential sleepers for 2QB leagues and Daily Fantasy Sports lineups.
- Josh Allen – Bills vs Cardinals – In 2023, the Arizona Cardinals allowed the second-highest average QB rating (102.9) and the third-most passing touchdowns (32). Very little changed about this defense over the offseason. So, while the Buffalo Bills don’t have Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen will have all day to throw. This could be one of those four-touchdown, 300-yard games.
- Jared Goff – Lions vs Rams – Jared Goff posted the second-highest QB rating (114.5) from a clean pocket last season and he recorded a 107.9 QB rating at home. Playing at Ford Field against a Los Angeles Rams defense without Aaron Donald and Ernest Jones, Goff will have all kinds of mismatches to target. There’s enough upside for 300-plus yards and 2 touchdowns against his former team.
- Geno Smith – Seahawks vs Broncos – The Seattle Seahawks improved their offensive line this offseason and probably upgraded at play-caller with the addition of offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. While Broncos’ corner Patrick Surtain will take one of these receivers away, that still leaves two others to attack a secondary that surrendered the fourth-highest pass touchdown rate (5.1 percent) and the third-highest average QB rating (98.0) last season. All of this bodes well for Smith delivering a huge performance.
- Jayden Daniels – Commanders vs Buccaneers – Great defenses are going to have a field day against the Washington Commanders offensive line. Fortunately for Jayden Daniels, that’s not a strength of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. Just as impactful from a fantasy football perspective, a bottom 5 Commanders defense means Daniels will keep having to throw. The rookie’s rushing ability alone gives him a solid floor, but there’s some top-10 upside here too.
- Baker Mayfield – Buccaneers vs Commanders – In what we’re forecasting to be one of the highest-scoring Week 1 games, Baker Mayfield could cook. Washington’s secondary allowed the highest average QB rating (105.7), the most passing yards per game (262.2) and the highest touchdown rate (6.4 percent) in 2023. With all due respect to Dan Quinn, he doesn’t have the talent to turn this unit around. Mayfield is a phenomenal QB2/Superflex in fantasy football this week and he makes for a great DFS bargain play.
