LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow won the Heisman Trophy thanks to his pinpoint accuracy on deep throws and mobility from the pocket. He put both on display in Monday’s national championship with an incredible dime to Ja’Marr Chase followed by a touchdown run.
When LSU trailed 17-7 and was in desperate need of a big play, the senior quarterback delivered. Despite seeing pressure in his face, Burrow unleashed the perfect strike downfield right into Chase’s hands for the big play.
The star receiver hauled it in for the perfect throw-and-catch combo, then pulled off the nifty move to escape the cornerback and sprint towards the end zone before being taken down at the three-yard line.
After LSU’s offense couldn’t punch it in on the first two plays inside the five, Burrow returned from the timeout and kept it himself. He executed the keeper perfectly, finding the open lane then rumbling in for the score.
Burrow continues to demonstrate why he won the Heisman Trophy and will likely be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Now, all he has left to do is deliver a few more incredible plays and win a national championship.
