Anthony Rizzo pulled off a dirty, dirty play Monday as his Chicago Cubs visited the Pittsburgh Pirates, sliding right into the back of Elias Diaz’s leg while barely even attempting to touch home plate.
Shortstop Sean Rodriguez fielded the grounder and threw for the force at home. As Diaz attempted to pull off a double play with the throw to first, Rizzo went feet first into his leg, forcing an errant throw.

It was just a terribly dirty play by Rizzo (not the first time this has happened, by the way), and an awful call by the ump, that had Twitter in an uproar.
Baseball sucks. Rizzo could’ve just ended Diaz’s season with that slide

Not sure if it’ll come today or tomorrow but Rizzo should wear one his next AB for that slide. It was Chris Coghlan like.

Actually a pretty dirty play by Rizzo. Use to think he was a good guy.

Umps making it all about them. #umpshow That was clearly illegal, and dirty to boot.
Rizzo is scum and New York blew it.

RIZZO WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO TAKE OUT DIAZ’S LEGS AND THEY CALLED HIM SAFE. @MLB get your crap together. Have the Cubs two more runs after almost breaking a guy’s ankle.

Anthony Rizzo just slid directly into the back of Elias Diaz's leg, well inside the 3rd base line and nowhere near what would've been a competent slide into home.
Can't wait to hear Joe Maddon's wisecrack in the postgame about whatever injury Diaz may have.
