it’s the eve of the 2024 NFL Draft, and we’re all itching to learn where the top prospects will be playing pro football next season. Some players have been hyped as first round picks since their freshman seasons in college, while others are still hoping they can have a last-minute climb into the top 32 picks.

But for every prospect that has a surprise climb into the first round, it causes another talented player to slip into Day 2 of the NFL Draft. Some years, we even see a prospect surprisingly freefall from where the public perception projected their draft slot.

The reality is, the media doesn’t have nearly as much information on individual players as teams who spend hours, days, weeks, and months evaluating each prospect. This often leads to a prospect slipping during draft weekend when their stock was never actually that high to begin with.

We may have just learned which prospect could be in for a long day on Thursday when the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off.

According to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler, LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has had a “few” teams that have “flagged” him for his medicals.

Thomas, who’s projected to be a first-round pick, has an incredible combination of size and speed, at 6-foot-3, 209 pounds, while being able to clock a 4.33 40-yard dash.

While his first two seasons featured a pair of 300-yard seasons, Thomas broke out in a big way in his senior year, recording 1,177 yards and an FBS-leading 17 touchdown receptions. Paired with Heisman winner Jayden Daniels, Thomas’ production put him on the map as one of the best receiver prospects in the NFL Draft.

Yet, if Thomas really does have some injury concerns, it’s possible he’ll slip further than expected. The biggest question is whether those teams will be getting a steal, or a player who will face more injury concerns once he reaches the next level.
