Former first-round quarterback Tim Tebow is so far removed from the NFL that he’s pursued a professional baseball career, but with Urban Meyer as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ new head coach, a return to the gridiron may be in the cards.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Tebow worked out for the Jaguars recently, and the team has discussed signing him as a tight end:

Tebow previously refused to switch positions as a means of continuing his NFL career after ultimately being a bust with the Denver Broncos. Although he did win a playoff game in Denver, the Broncos quickly switched their plans at the most important position when Peyton Manning became available.

After a one-year stint with the New York Jets, Tebow spent the 2013 preseason with the New England Patriots and signed briefly with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015. He didn’t make final roster cuts with either team.

Most recently, Tebow was with the New York Mets organization trying to make it to Major League Baseball, but retired from that pursuit earlier this year.

Meyer was Tebow’s head coach at the University of Florida, where the signal-caller had one of the most decorated college careers of all-time. Tebow was a member of two national championship teams and won the Heisman Trophy in 2007.

The tight end spot is rather wide-open in Jacksonville. Although the Jaguars have a lot of picks heading into the NFL Draft and are expected to take QB Trevor Lawrence No. 1 overall, perhaps Tebow can compete with rookies and other current players for a spot.
