Tampa Bay Buccaneers believe Kyle Trask ‘best in QB the division,’ won’t add star in 2023

Don’t expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to make a big move for a quarterback to replace Tom Brady because as of now the organization believes they have the best signal-caller in the division.

The NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the midst of great change heading into the 2023 season. That’s because they won a horrid south with an 8-9 record and will have to begin a new era at starting QB after future Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady retired from the sport earlier this month. Even with the NFL legend, this team underperformed in 2022.

However, in the NFL today a talented QB can make up for the many weaknesses already on the Buccaneers’ roster. But it seems Tampa Bay will not be going that route this offseason, despite superstars like Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson potentially being up for grabs.

That’s because decision-makers in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers front office reportedly believe they already have a competent replacement for Brady on the roster who is already the best QB of a bad bunch in the NFC South.

With the 64th pick overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Florida Gators star, Kyle Trask. And after two seasons serving as the backup for Brady, it seems the organization thinks they have a hidden gem in the conference and don’t need to swing for a proven name in a trade or NFL free agency to maintain their division champion standard. As ESPN NFL insider Jeff Darlington explained on a Thursday appearance on “NFL LIVE.”

“From my conversation with the organization, they do feel like, at least, Kyle Trask is likely to be the guy under center (in Week 1). I feel pretty confident they’re going in that direction. and whether that’s due to some salary cap concerns, because they did go all in on Tom Brady the past couple of years to build around him, and now they do have to pay a little bit of that price.

” … I think [general manager Jason Licht] also believe Kyle Trask has what it takes to be a winner in this league, and he looks around the division and he says, ‘Well we’ve got the best QB in the division at the very least.’ I’m not saying that means much but he at least thinks they can be competitive with Kyle Trask.”

As of now, the other starting QBs in the NFC South are Matt Corral (Carolina Panthers), Desmond Ridder (Atlanta Falcons), and Jameis Winston (New Orleans Saints).
