News broke early on Wednesday that the Buffalo Bills had traded four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans for a 2025 second-round pick.
We know that drama had been the name of the game between the enigmatic star pass-catcher and his now-former team. We still didn’t think it was viable for the Super Bowl contender to move their top weapon for franchise quarterback Josh Allen. Alas, that happened early Wednesday morning.
In talking about the trade, Bills general manager Brandon Beane noted that Allen probably woke up on the west coast to the news of the trade. Apparently, Buffalo did not alert its high-priced quarterback of a deal that sent his top target to an AFC rival.

Where do Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills go after Stefon Diggs trade?
Outside of the lack of communication between the organization and its star signal caller, there is an on-field dynamic at play here.
Diggs, 30, averaged 111 receptions for 1,343 yards during his four-year run in Buffalo after being acquired in a blockbuster trade from the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the 2020 season. He was by far Allen’s favorite target in Western New York.
Diggs’ departure comes after the Bills lost their second-best wide receiver in that of Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars in NFL free agency.
As of right now, the Bills’ top-three projected wide receivers are set to be Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir and Justin Shorter. It’s not a great situation to be in.
Look for Buffalo to add a wide receiver in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft later this month. The team could also kick the tires on a trade for Brandon Aiyuk or Tee Higgins.
