The Buffaloes hoped for better results than their 4-8 season produced, yet Sanders was excellent, throwing for 27 touchdowns and three interceptions. Now, scouts are evaluating Sanders as part of a 2025 NFL Draft class that has yet to see a consensus favorite for the No. 1 pick to emerge. And there’s one pro comparison that keeps coming up in relation to Sanders.
NFL analysts comparing Shedeur Sanders to Tua Tagovailoa
While Shedeur Sanders has only played two seasons in college, one at Jackson State and one at Colorado, pro scouts are already comparing to the Colorado star to other NFL QBs.
The name that ESPN’s Matt Miller brought up for Sanders’ pro comparison is Tua Tagovailoa. Both players have advanced levels of accuracy, and neither scrambles particularly often.
“He’s so surgical and accurate, and the touch passes are there, and he’s poised, like Tua.”
“He’s not exceptionally mobile, but he’s gonna give you something. I think Shedeur’s probably a better runner just because he doesn’t have the injury history of a Tua right now. But I can’t think of a player I’ve been more impressed by this season. I love watching Shedeur Sanders play.”

Sanders will have another season to prove why he’s worthy of a first-round selection, much like Tagovailoa became the fifth overall pick in 2020. But it’s clear Sanders already has plenty of fans.
