Since being selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, Geno Smith has been the butt of jokes around the NFL.

The West Virginia product bombed out big time in Jersey, throwing 28 touchdowns against 36 interceptions in 33 games (30 starts) before bouncing around between the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 and 2018.

Having last thrown a regular-season touchdown back in 2017, Geno Smith was tasked with replacing injured Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s contest with the division-rival Los Angeles Rams.

Down 16-7, this was obviously a less-than-stellar situation for Smith to be in. So, what did he do? The now 30-year-old quarterback responded by completing all five of his passes for 72 yards, including a touchdown pass to D.K. Metcalf in his first drive of the game.

What an absolute dime from Geno Smith to Metcalf. You simply can’t get much better than that.

The expectation is that Wilson’s injury isn’t too severe. Even then, it’s awesome to see Smith come in and throw a touchdown nearly four years after his last score.
