The city of Las Vegas and Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis have wanted to host a Super Bowl for years. With Super Bowl 2024 finally bringing the biggest game in pro sports to Allegiant Stadium, it’s all expected to have a staggering impact on Las Vegas.
As Tashan Reed of The Athletic detailed, Davis kept urging the NFL to host a Super Bowl in Las Vegas even before Allegiant Stadium opener. He saw it as a golden opportunity for the NFL to cash in on the spectacle of the Super Bowl in a city that would serve as the perfect host.

After years of reluctance from the NFL, in large part due to the league’s refusal to be associated with gambling, everything has changed. Just four years after Las Vegas welcomed the Raiders to town, the city will host Super Bowl LVIII and it along with the NFL are poised to cash in.

How much money will the Super Bowl bring to Las Vegas?
According to Business Insider, Super Bowl LVIII is expected to have a $1.1 billion economic impact on the Las Vegas region this week. The estimates come from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority paired with research from Applied Analysis.
Las Vegas already enjoyed a sizeable economic impact when other cities hosted the Super Bowl. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the city typically enjoys a $300 million gross economic impact during Super Bowl weekends when fans come to town.
Even more conservative estimates for the economic impact on Las Vegas from Super Bowl LVIII have the NFL’s biggest game pulling in between $600 to $700 million for the region, per Reed.
“It’s going to be one of the biggest events just from a financial standpoint that we’ve ever hosted. When you add it to the reputational and marketing value that it brings to Las Vegas, it’s hard to beat.”

Hotels in and around Las Vegas are sold out, while casinos and restaurants are expected to be packed from Monday through Sunday night with tens of thousands of people coming into the city. Ticket prices for Super Bowl 2024 are at an all-time high and the NFL is tentatively expecting to pull in more than 110 million viewers for Super Bowl LVIII.
This year’s Super Bowl will likely have one of the largest economic impacts in NFL history. While New Orleans (2025 Super Bowl) and Santa Clara (2026 Super Bowl) might not reach the same levels, it’s evident why so many cities compete to host the big game.
