Roderic Teamer and the Las Vegas Raiders host the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs Sunday afternoon in Southern Nevada.
It’s a big game for the Raiders as they attempt to remain very much alive in the AFC Playoff race. Unfortunately for the fourth-year safety from Tulane, this is the least of his worries.
According to multiple reports, the reserve defensive back was arrested early Sunday morning in Las Vegas on charges of speeding and driving under the influence.
Teamer, 26, was arrested on his way to the team hotel before curfew early Sunday morning. Typically, the Raiders stay at a hotel the night before a game. That’s true even when they are playing at home.
“The Raiders are aware of an incident regarding Roderic Teamer last night,” the team said in a news release. “The club is in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this time.”
As for Teamer, he was just activated off injured reserve hours before being arrested.
Teamer is currently in his third season with the Las Vegas Raiders after spending his rookie campaign with the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. He has appeared in six games this season, recording five tackles on defense.
Teamer has primarily played on special teams after starting three games for Vegas a season ago. It remains to be seen what this latest incident will mean for Teamer’s future in Vegas. He had previously been suspended four games by the NFL back in 2020 for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
