The Philadelphia Eagles will have a vastly different cast going into the 2025 season following their second Super Bowl championship.
Due to budget constraints and an eye on the future with looming contract extensions for players like Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens, All-Pro defensive tackle Jalen Carter, and edge rusher Nolan Smith, the Eagles said goodbye to:
- Defensive end Josh Sweat (signed with Arizona Cardinals)
- Defensive tackle Milton Williams (signed with New England Patriots)
- Cornerback Darius Slay (released and signed with Pittsburgh Steelers)
- Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers (signed with Minnesota Vikings)
- Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson (traded to Houston Texans for offensive lineman Kenyon Green)
- Linebacker Oren Burks (signed with Cincinnati Bengals)
- Guard Mekhi Becton (signed with Los Angeles Chargers)
- Running back Kenneth Gainwell (signed with Steelers)
- Quarterback Kenny Pickett (traded to Cleveland Browns for QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson)
The Eagles did, though, did shell out a record-breaking extension to Saquon Barkley, making him the first $20 million-a-year running back and re-signed All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun to a three-year, $51 million contract following a breakout 2024 season. They’ve also inked several players to one-year deals to serve as depth, including running back A.J. Dillon, cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, and tight end Harrison Bryant.
However, the roster reshuffling might not be complete as two high-priced veterans are reportedly on the trade block.
Philadelphia Eagles reportedly looking to move these two veterans

According to Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles are open to trading tight end Dallas Goedert and defensive end Bryce Huff.

Goedert is in the final year of his deal, while Huff — one of last year’s big free-agent signings — has seen limited playing time due to Philly’s deep rotation. pic.twitter.com/HfxyyWweL3
Goedert, who is in the final year of his contract and is scheduled to make $12.06 million, is one of the better tight ends in the league but has trouble staying on the field. He’s missed 15 games over the last three seasons. In 10 games in 2024, Goedert had two touchdowns and 496 receiving yards on 42 catches. In the playoffs, he turned it up significantly, racking up 215 receiving yards on 17 receptions and one touchdown during the championship run.

As for Huff, he’s been a high-priced disappointment. Coming off a 2023 season with the New York Jets where he recorded 10 sacks, the Eagles shelled out three years, $51.1 million for the edge rusher. But he never found his footing under Vic Fangio’s defensive scheme. A wrist injury limited him to 12 games, but he was virtually non-existent when he was on the field. He tallied just 2.5 sacks and was on the field for only 39% of the defensive snaps. The final blow came when he was left inactive for the Super Bowl as veteran Brandon Graham returned from a triceps injury. Huff carries a cap hit of $7.51 million for 2025 and a substantial dead cap hit of $29.65 million.
Moving Goedert would be much easier for the Eagles, but both would most likely generate a Day 3 pick.
