Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts is questionable for Sunday’s game at the New York Jets due to an ankle injury.

“It’s an unknown right now,” coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Friday.

Hurts sustained the injury in the second half of last Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants when his ankle was stepped on.

He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, but he said Wednesday that he believed he’d be ready to play.

“You guys obviously know I’m dealing with a little something, but it’s business as usual,” he told reporters.

His backup, Gardner Minshew II, was expected to take first-team reps this week to help prepare him in case Hurts can’t play.

The 23-year-old Hurts, in his second season, has completed 60.1 percent of his passes for 2,435 yards in 12 starts this season. He has 13 touchdown passes and eight interceptions – three of them coming in the 13-7 road loss to the Giants.

He’s also run for 695 yards with eight touchdowns.

The Eagles are 5-7.
